Racing Action : Ventura Raceway... The Commotion by the Ocean, The Debris by the Sea. Jim Naylor and his crew run an excellent racetrack located just feet from the Pacific Ocean. My visit to this beautiful facility was different from my usual racing jaunts. I was on my Honeymoon and my new bride had wanted me to enjoy a once in a lifetime opportunity to go to another racetrack. This was track no. 81 on my list, in my eighteenth state. I shot a lot of the VRA Sprints and Senior Sprints hot laps, and we watched all of the heat races from the grandstand. After a week of dragging her from the desert all the way down to San Diego and back through Los Angeles we left just as the consies were about to start. The thing that impressed me the most about this west coast track was the fact there was no street stocks. They had replaced them with go-karts who run a smaller track that runs just inside the larger oval. Not that there is anything wrong with street stocks, just after 40 something races in a season it was quite the refreshing change.
